Parkwood Pediatric Group Introduces New Physician

April 13, 2012

The physicians of Parkwood Pediatric Group announced today that Christine Canivan, MD has joined their practice. Doctor Canivan, a pediatrician with more than 14 years of experience, has been caring for patients in the practice’s Daniel Island and West Ashley office since April 9, 2012.

Dr. Canivan, who has lived in Charleston since the age of eight, earned her undergraduate degree from College of Charleston and her medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She went on to complete her internship and residency in pediatric care at the University of Alabama and remained in Birmingham as a hospitalist and primary care pediatrician in the following months. After returning to Charleston, Dr. Canivan broadened her experience with three years of treating patients in adolescent medicine and one year in MUSC’s Pediatric Emergency Room and Roper’s Peds Plus. She has also cared for patients in pediatric practices on James Island and at the MUSC satellite clinic in Moncks Corner.

Dr. Canivan has a passion for interior design and enjoys spending time with her family — Owen, 5; Rose, 3 and husband Greg, who is an engineer, drummer and avid boater.

“With two young children of my own, I often have the opportunity to talk with other parents about their choices for pediatric care, and I have found that the excellent reputation of Parkwood Pediatric Group precedes them,” said Christine Canivan, MD. “I’m thrilled to be part of a group that is so well respected by their patients and honored to be given the opportunity to join this close knit team who works so incredibly well together.”

To schedule appointments with Christine Canivan, MD, patients should call the practice’s Daniel Island office at (843) 849.9582 or the West Ashley office at 843.556.8110.
